How Often
All the time, every single day. Just visit the WordPress forums and do a search for my blog was hacked and you’ll get an endless supply of threads to read. This blog has been attacked (and thankfully thwarted), by some person in China. Their IP address is 58.241.255.38 in case you want to block them from accessing your site. They tried 6 or 7 times, but what they tried would never of worked for my blog.

How
Well, this is one I’ve been struggling with when it comes to writing a post about it. I don’t want to “teach” would-be jerks out there how to crack into someone’s blog, but maybe I’ll write up some kind of post on it. Of course this is a service we provide (ebook in development also), so I don’t necessarily want to tell all.

I’d say the two most popular methods I see are password discovery (use the login lockdown plugin to thwart that) and SQL injection (attempts to hack your database).

Of course there is more, but those are the basics.

I am wondering… how often are WordPress blogs hacked and how to the perps do it?
