Your brain obviously has the ability to make connections with words.It’s a useful skill.

Christopher Lioyd, the actor who played the Doc in Back to the Future, also played Jim a victim of the 60′s in the US TV series “Taxi”.
I’m sure he used the phrase Heavy Man in the series.

As for the 60′s, what do they say?

“If you can remember the 60′s… you weren’t there.”

Keith, your comment reminded me of the movie, Back To The Future. Michael J. Fox travels back to the 50′s from the 80′s and he says, “That’s heavy” a few times. A guy from the 50′s who knows his secret says, “There’s that word again, ‘heavy’. Is there something wrong with the Earth’s gravity in your time or something?”

This is heavy stuff John. As we said in the 60′s… Heavy Man.
Perhaps this year, the year of the credit crunch and redundancy, I’ve learned that most of us define ourselves by our profession.

It’s also taught me that if that profession is taken away… we struggle to define ourselves.
That happened to so many people in 2009 and those people have my sympathy and thoughts of hope for 2010.

Like I said John… Heavy Man.

I hear what you’re saying. In relation, I *seemingly* like playing with WordPress until I get a database error and seeing where that takes me!

I think a writer is a general terms, kind of like Martial Artists. You might know and use Kung-Fu, but you’re still a Martial Artists.

It’s that “Kung-Fu” level my article is trying to inspire people to think about. Because once you know you’re in Kung-Fu, then you know where you need to study and what kinds of moves to learn.

True you’re a blogger, but what kind of blogger are you? Kung-Fu blogger? What kind of Kung-Fu? Ah… now you know who to target and where you need to study.

Get my point?

@Hunter; Oh you! Isn’t writer just a word or a label; like doctor, or blogger, for example?

I write informally (on my blog). I enjoy being introspective, playing with different combinations of words and seeing where the words themselves take me. In my world, when I put those two things together, I end up writing. Some people might label my writing as Personal Development, but I suppose that can be broken down into specifics too. Bottom line?: I’m still working on my niche, but either way, when I figure that out I’ll still call myself a writer.

I think there is a blog post here for you Hunter. I can SO see you writing about this. Would make for some interesting discussion.

I tend to use the term “blogger” rather loosely. Blogging, tweeting, ebooking, online marketing, niche site creating…I don’t draw much of a line between them. Perhaps “web publisher” is a better generic term.

What drives me crazy is when someone calls themselves a “writer.” That could mean a lot of things! We don’t even know if they mean online or offline, and there’s a big difference right there.
